We did it!!
Congratulations to the 29 young people who made First Communion on Sunday, May 1, 2016! St. Pius X parish family loves you, and we are very proud of you!
We all want to give our children the very best of everything! When it comes to faith, the VERY BEST we can give them is for us as parents to develop our own solid relationship with Jesus and practice of our own faith. Listen as Fr. Josh McCarty reflects on parenting and the parable of the weeds and the wheat in Matthew 13: 24-30. Afterwards, check out Fr. Josh's other videos at Lolek Productions. He presents sensitive issues with great insight! These make for great family discussions!! |

bible stories that teach us
about God's gift of
himself to us
|
Week #1 -- Scripture Story
We want to know Jesus in a way that is close and personal. He cares about each one of us, how we feel, and what is important to us. You will see Him here providing food for the hungry crowd of people. He LOVES them! You will also see here a little boy who feels like he doesn't have much to give, but Jesus takes what he has and uses it to serve God. Each of us has been blessed by God in so many ways! We must always be willing to serve God and other people, even when we don't feel like we have much to offer. Jesus can take our gift and make it into just what is needed! |

Week #2 -- Scripture Story
In this Bible story of "Martha and Mary" you see two sisters who BOTH love Jesus! One of them is very busy taking care of making everything perfect for Jesus' visit. She was cleaning and cooking, taking care of every detail so Jesus would enjoy His visit to her house. At the same time, her sister Mary was just sitting at Jesus' feet, gazing at Him and they talked and shared with each other. Jesus appreciated everything Martha was DOING for Him, but He was happier with the relationship He and Mary shared as they spent time together. Which do you do more often -- DOING things for God, or building a relationship with Him? |

Week #3 -- Scripture Story
This woman did not have a husband anymore, because he had died already. She also was very poor, and did not have extra money to spend. Her heart was very focused on only one thing -- God, and she gave Him EVERYTHING! Many people have so much that their hearts are divided. Do we give EVERYTHING to God, finding the joy in Him that lasts forever, or do we try to find our happiness in other places? |

Week #4 -- Scripture Story
We all like to have things to hold onto, or to do that help us feel close to someone we love. Jesus knew His apostles would need a way to remember Him and stay close to Him. He taught them many things at the Last Supper, and He gave them [and us!] this wonderful gift of Himself in the Holy Eucharist! Receiving Holy Communion is a very important, very effective way for us to stay close to Jesus. We should receive this sacrament every chance we get! Jesus loves each of us personally, and gives us the gift of Himself at every Mass!! |

Week #5 -- Scripture Story
The relationship between a shepherd and his sheep is very personal. The shepherd protects the sheep and keeps them safe, providing for all their needs. The sheep come to know the shepherd very well, following the sound of his voice. They trust Him! When Jesus was teaching the people about God's love for them, He used the image of the shepherd caring for his sheep. Enjoy this video, and remember that Jesus loves and cares for you personally! Listen to His voice! |

Week #6 -- Scripture Story In the same way fishermen catch fish, Jesus draws people to Himself with his love. He wants us to show other people how to love God so they will follow Him. Have you ever seen so many fish!! |
